Auckland to WHangarei
For the first 2 weeks after buying the boat we drove nearly every day to Auckland to organise and make sense of the utter chaos inside the boat, empty water out of the bilges, get the motor running, sort some batteries so we have power, getting the rig and sails sorted for the trip and so forth. Our main concerns were around thru-hull fittings and general condition of the rig which is why we waited for favourable weather, didn't push the boat and took some hands-on crew with us as we had a lot of 'unknowns' at this point. One can easily identify the neglect by looking at the state of her sails, no surprise we had about 10-15 bird's nests falling out of the main sail when we hoisted it. We arrived at Marsden Cove Marina in the afternoon and had no major issues or leaks along the way. It was a relief to have her closer to home and this first challenge behind us. Have a look at our Haul Out pictures for the next challenge :-)
